Gustavo Romero was born September 30, 1955 in Ecuador. Dr. Romero has been a partner in the law firm since receiving his law degree (LL.B) with distinction from Catholic University of Ecuador in 1983 and was admitted to the Ecuadorian Bar the same year.

Specializing in Oil and Gas Law, Commercial Law, Banking Law, Trademark and Patent Law-IP, contracting foreign and national companies in contracts signed with Public Entities.

Dr. Gustavo Romero has written many scholarly works on the subjects including: Leasing Contracts (1983), Doing Business in Ecuador (1994- seventh edition), Doing Business in the Oil and Gas Industries in Ecuador (1994), Doing Business in the Mining Industry in Ecuador (1996).

Doctor of Jurisprudence (Universidad Catolica del Ecuador 1983).

  • Member of the Board of Directors and legal advisor of the Ecuadorian – American Chamber of Commerce (1992-2006)
  • Member of the Board of Directors of the Ecuadorian Association of Intellectual Property, AEPI, (President, 2003-2005)
  • Member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, APPI (President 1998-2000), Ecuador Chapter.
  • Member of Romero Arteta Ponce Abogados since 1973, accepted as a partner in 1983 and as managing partner from 1985 to the present.
  • Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia in Ecuador since 2002.
